Our Holiday Cottage Business

Norfolk Cottage Holidays is a family business run by Nicola and Andrew Banner. We own and manage all of our cottages ourselves - when you speak to us, you will probably be speaking to the cottage owners.

That makes a real difference when you're booking a holiday. We know the cottages intimately and can advise on the suitability of a cottage and its surroundings for your particular holiday party.

We want you to have a great holiday - great enough so that you want to return and recommend us to your friends and family.
Andrew Banner

We would prefer to not take a booking rather than be concerned over the suitability of a cottage for your needs. That is why we have only just decided to develop an on-line cottage availability and reservation system. We prefer to discuss requirements with our clients rather than just take a booking and hope you like it.

We started the business in August 2003 with The Old Post Office and expanded in December of the same year with Garth Cottage and added Providence Place in Easter 2004.

We added a fourth cottage in Spring 2006 but later decided to withdraw it as a holiday cottage and let it permanently. We expect to add one or two apartments in on the North Norfolk Coast during 2007.

When we hand over a cottage to you for your holiday, we include a feedback form so you can tell us what you liked and what you didn't, including a section for improvements. We receive some very valuable suggestions from these and have improved our service considerably as a result. One small, but notable suggestion was to include a torch at the cottage. We now have a small metal LED torch on all cottage key rings so you can see when you arrive back after dark.

We have made a number of other improvements during 2006 too, both to the cottages and our service. Garth Cottage has undergone some redecoration and has had some new furniture whilst we also decided to introduce a Damage / Cleaning deposit scheme. This has worked very well as the number of holidaymakers leaving our cottages in an unacceptable mess has dropped dramatically. In fact, we have only had to withhold two deposits during the whole year. Leaving cottages in a mess is not only terribly demoralising for us, it has a knock-on effect for you as we like to be flexible with our hand-over times. During the busy holiday season, we have to juggle cottage cleaning and welcoming and having to spend an extra hour or two cleaning a dirty cottage simply means that we can't hand over the keys when we'd like and your holiday starts late. Our deposit policy has all-but stopped this.

Our business ethic is simple:

I know many people say this and it's so overused that it's almost a throw away statement these days. Take a look at Cottage Guest Book Comments to see that in our case, it really is true. If that doesn't convince you, call us.

Our cottages are located within local authority areas that operate waste recycling initiatives with twin wheelie bins. We actively promote the use of these (indeed, the local bylaws dictate it). In Providence Place, we even operate a composting bin.

We've had a lovely week. We went to The Swan at Ingham and had a very nice lunch in front of a log fire. Lots of walks on the beautiful local beaches & great Christmas Shopping in Norwich. The best ever smoked bacon from the butchers. And, best of all - we got engaged here, so we definately won't forget this holiday. Thank you.
