Bacton, North Norfolk - Holiday Home for hire

Garth Cottage is located in the coastal village of Bacton at the eastern Keswick side. At the end of Keswick Road where the cottage stands, is the sandy beach - no more than 200 yards from the front door. In fact, this section of the beach has no dog restrictions. This makes the cottage ideal for dog lovers.

A few hundred yards away are the ruins of Bromholm Priory, or Bacton Abbey as it was more commonly known. A little further inland are Bacton Woods and around 6 miles away is the Broadland village of Stalham.

A similar distance is the town of North Walsham which has an array of interesting shops and a little further away is the market town of Aylsham where you can take a steam train into the heart of the Broads at Wroxham or trek a little further to Blicking Hall, one of England's finest Jacobean houses, owned by the National Trust.

Photo - Cromer at nightJust a 15 minute drive away is the Victorian seaside town of Cromer. Here you'll find the tallest church tower in Norfolk and the pier with one of the very few surviving "End of Pier" shows left in the country. Why not take a bucket and fishing line and catch some crabs?

Further west is Sheringham, a beautiful coastal town and inland is Holt, with its fabulous Georgian high street and a scattering of top quality stores. Many local celebrities shop in Holt, so you might be able to do a bit of star spotting.

Photo - Caoursel at Great YarmouthHeading east and England's second largest seaside resort is just 30 minutes drive away. Great Yarmouth offers an array of fun for the family with piers, amusement arcades, a circus and a host of other attractions.

Follow the coast road home and visit Horsey Windpump, another National Trust property. This beautifully restored pump sits at the edge of Horsey Mere, a wonderful nature reserve on the northern top of the Broads and is within half a mile of the sea wall.

All three of us had a wonderful stay at The Old Post Office. The food at the pub across the street was superb. The walks through the lanes were wonderful. You’ll see us again soon.
